Our Story: A Taste of Tradition, A Slice of Home

Welcome to Cores e Sabores, a place where we celebrate the vibrant spirit of Brazil in every slice. Our story, like our signature pavê, is built on layers of family, of history, and of the simple joy that a truly beautiful dessert can bring. Our founder, Nete, grew up in a home in Southern Brazil where the kitchen was the heart of every gathering. It was a place buzzing with festive energy and the sweet aromas of home. For every celebration, there was pavê. A stunning, layered dessert, chilled to perfection, it was always a feast for the eyes before it ever touched the lips. The tradition began with her great-grandmother, "Vovó" Nelci, a woman who painted with flavor. With a gentle nod to French technique, she took the classic art of layering and infused it with the bright, tropical ingredients of Brazil. The name "pavê" might come from the French word for "cobblestone," but in Nelci's hands, it became a canvas. Her recipes for silky, creamy desserts, jotted down in a treasured notebook, predate the famous Tiramisu by decades. For Nete, each layer told a story: the soft, soaked biscuits, the rich, decadent cream, and a final flourish of deep chocolate or a mosaic of colorful fruit. The family recipe book evolved over the years, a living history of taste, embracing everything from earthy peanuts to the sunny sweetness of passion fruit and pineapple. After moving to the United States, Nete missed the sensory richness of her childhood. She longed for the bright tastes and festive spirit of those family gatherings, all centered around a dessert that was as beautiful as it was delicious. She wanted to create a place that captured that same magic, a place that felt like home. She called it **Cores e Sabores**—Colors and Flavors—the two words that best described the joy she wanted to share. Here, we honor that legacy. We use only the finest ingredients to create our pavês, each one a no-bake, chilled delight designed to be the centerpiece of your own celebrations.
